As a Muslim I find the SaGa game offensive. Pairing a character obviously dressed in Muslim hijab with another character that is scantily clad is dismissive of our values. Everyone is free to live the life they want to, but being respectful of the values others is important. Putting the characters together like that is not a celebration of respecting values, it's forcing one character to forego their values. Muslims believe in modesty and do not like to associate with people or actions that encourage revealing one's body. That being said we only espouse our own values in our own spaces and part of that is avoiding association with people that practice dressing scantily. By making a Muslim character hang out with scantily clad character, it's like the Muslim is abandoning her value and treating her hijab like it's just a fashion choice and not something more significant.

It likely could have been done innocently without knowledge of the developers of what hijab means to muslims, but I am skeptical as these developers tend to do serious research when designing characters. If you disagree with me simply because you don't agree with our values, that's fine, but that's not an argument to dismiss my offense with what they did.

Think about it this way: If you had a friend that who believed that global warming wasn't real, you wouldn't attend a anti-global warming rally with them, and you wouldn't agree with them if they tried to get you to compromise on your values. It's the same idea. A Muslim character hanging out with a person when they chose to dress in a way that is very revealing would be going against their values. It's not respect, is going back on what you believe, and it isn't fair to portray a Muslim character in that way.

The list of my childhood games coming to Switch will be complete as soon as Tomodachi Life is on the Switch.

Nintendo how was it you can you send a cease and desist letter to SML for using your plushy’s for controversial stuff but not to SMG4 I mean, they say even worse stuff, even though they’ve changed some of their characters to be different from the Nintendo brand they still have Mario and Luigi saying some weird stuff that is even worse than SML explain to me how SML gets a cease-and-desist letter.
